Why SNHU nursing placement is unavailable in Washington
Washington is a full practice state under AANP's May 2026 category, but SNHU currently states that none of its nursing programs are available to Washington residents. Do not begin placement sourcing.
The current SNHU answer for Washington is no
SNHU's licensure and certification disclosures state that nursing programs are not available to Washington residents. This restriction is broader than FNP and applies to the other MSN tracks and RN-to-BSN as well. A Washington resident should contact SNHU for a current written decision before enrollment, relocation, or placement planning and should not assume a local preceptor can change program availability.
If SNHU later changes the disclosure, confirm the effective date, the student's program and cohort, residence requirements, and where clinical activity may occur. A general admission conversation is not enough for a regulated nursing program. Keep the written response with academic records before any organization or clinician is contacted.
Washington full practice is a separate fact
AANP categorizes Washington as full practice. A properly licensed ARNP may perform core evaluation, diagnosis, testing, treatment, and prescribing functions within state authority, education, certification, and competence without a permanent physician collaboration requirement. This describes professional practice in Washington, not SNHU program eligibility.
A strong state practice environment cannot override a university's state authorization or licensure determination. It also does not give a student independent authority. If eligibility changes later, the student would still need an approved course, supervisor, organization, and scope of activity.
Use the Washington Board for credential facts
The Washington State Board of Nursing provides official ARNP licensing requirements and verification resources. The Board is the right source for a clinician's legal credential, active status, role, and public conditions. It does not decide SNHU enrollment or approve an SNHU course placement.
There is no reason to ask a Washington clinician for a commitment while SNHU nursing availability remains closed. Premature outreach can waste the professional's time and create a false impression that the school has authorized a placement. Use the Board resource for factual understanding, then stop at the university eligibility checkpoint.
Do not convert city access into eligibility
Seattle and Bellevue provide Washington's largest clinical market. Tacoma and the South Sound add another major corridor, with Olympia, Everett, and Bellingham elsewhere in western Washington. Spokane anchors the east, while Vancouver, the Tri-Cities, Yakima, and Wenatchee provide other regional centers.
Those cities are useful context only. Their health systems, clinics, community programs, and qualified clinicians do not make an unavailable SNHU nursing program available. A nearby Oregon or Idaho site also does not resolve Washington residency restrictions. The student's residence, program, site address, and state authorization must all be considered by SNHU.
Keep SNHU hour figures out of a Washington request
SNHU publishes at least 750 total FNP clinical hours across five courses and 135 practicum hours for each non-NP MSN track, while RN-to-BSN has community clinical practice experiences without one fixed published total. These figures describe programs and do not create a Washington enrollment path. SNHU has no DNP.
Do not use the clinical hours guide to solicit a Washington site while the state restriction remains active. If SNHU later confirms availability in writing, obtain the current course requirements again before discussing capacity. Program facts can change between cohorts and authorization decisions.
Physical and virtual formats do not bypass the restriction
SNHU's official clinical copy describes hours at an in-person location and does not publish a universal telehealth allowance or named tracking system. A virtual-capable proposal does not remove the Washington availability restriction or turn remote activity into countable clinical work.
Our physical placement and conditional virtual proposal review can begin only after SNHU provides written confirmation that the student's nursing program is available and the exact course and format may proceed. Any later virtual review would also require site and state permission, patient-location analysis, privacy safeguards, supervision, and a written credit decision.
Use a review only to clarify eligibility
Trusted by nursing students and working nurses. For Washington, the responsible first step is an eligibility check, not preceptor sourcing or payment. No placement should be presented as secured while SNHU's disclosure says nursing programs are unavailable.
A free placement review can help identify the exact written questions to take to SNHU, including residence, program, cohort, proposed site state, and format. We will not treat a Washington placement as open unless the university supplies current written authorization for the student's situation.
Keep the written Washington response
Save SNHU's answer with the date, program, cohort, residence, and any proposed clinical state. If any of those facts change, request a new determination. This record protects the student from building an enrollment or placement plan around an outdated or incomplete conversation.
