You are. SNHU makes NP and MSN students self-source their own preceptors and clinical sites, and it gives no placement guarantee.

For the MSN FNP, this begins at admission: the application asks you to identify one potential preceptor for a clinical practicum. The four other MSN tracks and the RN-to-BSN also expect you to arrange your own clinical experiences. If sourcing stalls, our independent service can take it over, but the university will not do it for you.

SNHU offers a single NP track: the MSN FNP (Family Nurse Practitioner).

There is no PMHNP, no other NP specialty, no DNP, and no ADN. Beyond the MSN FNP, SNHU has four other MSN tracks (Nursing Education, Healthcare Quality and Safety, Nurse Executive Leadership, and Population Healthcare), an online RN-to-BSN, and two post-master's certificates (Healthcare Quality and Safety, and Nursing Education), all of which are non-NP.

Yes. Nursing Education, Healthcare Quality and Safety, Nurse Executive Leadership, and Population Healthcare each require 135 clinical practicum hours under the guidance of preceptors in the final course.

Each of those four tracks is 36 credits, and like the FNP, the preceptor is self-sourced. The RN-to-BSN uses community-based clinical practice experiences rather than a traditional preceptor practicum.

You need two years of full-time RN experience and you must identify one potential preceptor for a clinical practicum as part of applying.

The MSN FNP is available in about 17 states, so eligibility depends partly on where you live and practice. Check your state against SNHU's current list before assuming you qualify.

It is a mandatory in-person residency for MSN FNP students, coded NUR-600, that costs 2,000 dollars on top of tuition.

It is a fixed requirement of the program, not optional, and the 2,000 dollars is separate from your regular tuition. Plan for both the travel and the cost when you map out your program timeline.

Each clinical site sets its own background check and immunization requirements, and you meet them. SNHU names no vendor.

Yes. SNHU's nursing programs are accredited by CCNE (baccalaureate and master's), not ACEN, and the institution is accredited by NECHE.

Accreditation matters for certification eligibility and licensure, so it is worth knowing which body accredits what. Always verify current accreditation status on SNHU's official pages.
