Preceptor Placement for SNHU's Non-NP MSN Tracks

All four of SNHU's non-NP MSN specializations require a self-sourced preceptor: Nursing Education, Healthcare Quality and Safety, Nurse Executive Leadership, and Population Healthcare.

Each of these tracks is 36 credits and each requires 135 clinical practicum hours under the guidance of preceptors, completed in the final course of the program.

Unlike the FNP track, these are non-NP paths, but the self-sourcing expectation is the same: SNHU does not place you, so you either arrange the preceptor yourself or use a service like ours to source and verify one.

The non-NP tracks do not lead to nurse practitioner certification and do not carry the same clinical hour load or the mandatory New Hampshire immersion tied to the FNP program.

SNHU also offers two post-master's certificates, in Healthcare Quality and Safety and in Nursing Education, both non-NP. SNHU has no PMHNP, no additional NP specialty, no DNP, and no ADN.

Compliance is student-borne: each clinical site sets its own background check and immunization requirements, SNHU names no vendor, and you must carry your own malpractice insurance.

SNHU's master's nursing programs are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), and their curricula align with the AACN Essentials, the framework that defines the competencies expected of master's-prepared nurses.
