Build a Missouri Search for an SNHU Nursing Practicum

AANP classifies Missouri as restricted practice because state law limits at least one element of NP practice and requires career-long supervision, delegation, or team management by another health provider for part of the clinician's work. Students may see that structure reflected in practice agreements, prescribing, consultation, or employer workflow. The category does not define student authority or replace the supervision and review required for an SNHU experience.

The Missouri State Board of Nursing is the official source for nursing and advanced practice credentials. Search the proposed preceptor's legal name and confirm the active license, role, population focus, and public restrictions. A valid credential is essential, but the organization must also permit student activity and the supervisor must have the schedule, authority, and relevant work to support the course.

SNHU does not currently include Missouri among the states accepting students into the MSN Family Nurse Practitioner track. A Missouri resident should obtain new written eligibility guidance before asking a primary-care clinician to hold placement dates. A local NP's willingness cannot change the university's enrollment or authorization decision.

Other SNHU nursing paths remain available in Missouri. The four non-FNP MSN specializations cover Nursing Education, Population Healthcare, Healthcare Quality and Safety, and Nurse Executive Leadership. RN-to-BSN is also available. Each option needs a different placement brief, because the best supervisor for education or quality work may not be a primary-care clinician.

The Missouri side of the Kansas City region contains large health systems, community programs, outpatient networks, universities, and administrative departments. Saint Louis and its surrounding Missouri counties provide another broad market. Students should keep the physical site address clear, especially near either state border, because a short commute into Kansas or Illinois does not automatically make an out-of-state location acceptable.

Springfield anchors southwestern Missouri, Columbia offers academic and health-system opportunities in the center, and Jefferson City can support government, population health, and administrative searches. Joplin, Saint Joseph, and Cape Girardeau provide additional regional starting points. Smaller communities may have appropriate organizations, though fewer staff members may be available to supervise a student.

Choose a repeatable route rather than the widest possible map. Consider attendance frequency, highway travel, weather, work shifts, parking, and the supervisor's actual days in the department. Large systems may require a central student-affiliation process, while smaller practices may rely on an administrator or office manager to decide whether the organization can participate.

The FNP pathway publishes a minimum of 750 clinical hours under preceptor guidance across five courses and includes a required in-person immersion in New Hampshire. Missouri is not currently an accepting FNP state, so these requirements should not be used to describe an eligible Missouri non-FNP practicum.

SNHU publishes a 135-hour final-course practicum for each of its four non-FNP MSN specializations. Nursing Education includes clinical and academic settings. Population health, quality, and executive leadership students need access to work that supports their concentration objectives. The RN-to-BSN includes community-based clinical practice experiences with a qualified mentor, while its public program information gives no single fixed hour total for every student.

FNP is SNHU's only nurse practitioner track, and the university does not offer a DNP. Do not approach a Missouri organization with an SNHU request for PMHNP, AGACNP, another NP specialty, or DNP work. Prepare the organization's legal name, Missouri address, department, authorized contact, supervisor credentials and duties, required activities, course dates, and attendance schedule. Confirm that the supervisor will remain available through the term and that the student can access the projects, meetings, patients, or community work described in the proposal.

SNHU and the host organization may each require onboarding documents. Background checks, health records, drug screening, liability coverage, license verification, and other items can follow different submission routes. Ask who receives each document and protect sensitive information. A student should not begin work or record time until the required school and site decisions are complete.

SNHU's official nursing information describes required clinical practice at an in-person location. It publishes no general telehealth-hour allowance and identifies no universal clinical tracking system. Online academic delivery does not prove that a Missouri practicum may be completed remotely.
