Georgia SNHU clinical guide

Plan a Georgia Placement for an SNHU Nursing Course

Georgia is a Restricted Practice state, and SNHU's current public pages conflict about Georgia FNP admission. Georgia residents should get a written eligibility decision before contacting primary care preceptors.

SNHU FNP practice in Georgia: Restricted practice authority under AANP's May 2026 category, with the 750-hour program-page FNP practicum figure across five courses
Georgia: Restricted practice authority (AANP May 2026). SNHU FNP practicum is 750 program-page hours across five courses (an SNHU libguide lists 650).

Resolve the Georgia FNP conflict in writing

SNHU's dedicated FNP page and licensure disclosures include Georgia, while the current general MSN admissions page omits it from the accepting-state list. Do not choose the answer that is more convenient. Ask for written Admissions confirmation tied to the student's state of domicile, catalog, start term, and proposed clinical state before any sourcing commitment.

A practicum just across a state line does not automatically change the rule connected to residence. Waiting for the written answer protects both the student and a Georgia practice from avoidable work. The conflict is specific to FNP; Nursing Education, Population Healthcare, Healthcare Quality & Safety, Nurse Executive Leadership, and RN-to-BSN remain available under their own current course and site requirements.

Restricted practice shapes the Georgia work setting

AANP categorizes Georgia as a Restricted Practice state. Georgia law restricts at least one element of NP practice and requires career-long supervision, delegation, or team management by another provider for an aspect of practice. This describes the professional environment surrounding a licensed NP. It does not grant an SNHU student independent authority.

The Georgia Board of Nursing is the official source for license information. Check a proposed supervisor's legal name, active credential, role, population focus, and public limitations. That verification should be followed by an educational review of the clinician's actual work, graduate preparation, organization authority, supervision capacity, and access to the patient population or projects required by the course.

Treat metro Atlanta as several search corridors

Atlanta's healthcare market extends across many counties, and a prospect on the opposite side of the metro area may be difficult to attend consistently. Define a corridor through the student's home, work, and expected clinical schedule before outreach. Augusta, Savannah, Columbus, Macon, Athens, Albany, and Rome add regional markets with their own systems, community organizations, academic settings, and leadership departments.

Give each prospect enough context to evaluate the request. State the SNHU track and course, target term, required activities, weekly availability, relevant patient or project population, and practical travel radius. Non-NP practica may fit nursing education, improvement, population health, or executive teams that do not appear in a general preceptor directory. The right department matters as much as the city.

Use published hours without forcing a calculation

The SNHU FNP track publishes a minimum of 750 practicum hours under preceptors across five courses. The work focuses on primary care across the lifespan, and an applicant identifies one potential preceptor. If Admissions confirms Georgia eligibility, discuss capacity from that overall requirement and the student's current plan. Public descriptions do not support a reliable course-by-course sum.

Each non-NP MSN track publishes 135 practicum hours in its final course. Nursing Education divides work between clinical and academic settings. RN-to-BSN includes community clinical practice experiences with a qualified mentor, but the university provides no one total for every Georgia student. SNHU offers neither a DNP nor any NP track other than FNP, so a sourcing request should not imply otherwise.

Schedule the immersion and Georgia onboarding separately

FNP includes a required in-person New Hampshire immersion through NUR 600 before the practicum sequence. Because SNHU's public descriptions vary on duration, students should obtain the active dates and travel instructions directly from the university. This trip is distinct from Georgia clinical hours and should be planned before the first proposed site date.

The physical site file should name the address, department, authorized contact, supervisor, term dates, weekly schedule, and available patient or project work. SNHU lists potential requirements including background checks, license verification, immunizations, drug screening, and professional liability coverage. FNP students hold individual malpractice insurance during practicum courses and supply proof at least two terms before clinical components.

Keep in-person placement as the default plan

SNHU's official nursing information describes clinical practice hours at an in-person location and gives no general telehealth credit rule. We source physical Georgia prospects. A virtual-capable proposal is considered only after written permission from SNHU, the course, the site, and every relevant state specifically covers the supervision and credit plan. No virtual activity is promised as countable.

After eligibility is settled, we can research prospects, check public credentials, shape a clear request, and coordinate the details needed for review. The organization decides whether it will participate, and SNHU makes the academic determination. Students see a proposed match before payment and pay only when a placement is secured.

Trusted by nursing students and working nurses. Send the written eligibility answer, course, Georgia corridor, term, availability, travel range, and physical or conditionally reviewed virtual preference through a free placement review. We will evaluate the search and identify the remaining checkpoints.

Questions

Good to know

Does SNHU currently accept Georgia FNP students?

Its public pages conflict. The FNP and licensure pages include Georgia, while the general MSN admissions page omits it. Obtain a current written answer for the student's domicile and proposed clinical state.

What does restricted practice mean in Georgia?

AANP uses that category because Georgia restricts at least one NP practice element and requires career-long supervision, delegation, or team management for part of practice.

What hour totals does SNHU publish?

FNP publishes at least 750 practicum hours across five courses. Each non-NP MSN specialization publishes 135 hours in its final practicum.

May a Georgia practicum use virtual activity?

Only after prior written permission from SNHU, the course, the site, and all relevant states for the exact supervision and credit plan. Physical placement is the published baseline.
