SNHU currently accepts Florida residents into its MSN Family Nurse Practitioner track, subject to active admission terms. The state of domicile remains part of that decision. A Florida student considering a clinical site in another state should obtain written SNHU guidance for both locations before asking a preceptor to reserve time.

FNP applicants identify one potential preceptor, which makes a focused early search important. The candidate still needs the right primary care work across the lifespan, sufficient availability, organization participation, and school acceptance. A name in a directory is only a lead. Discuss the term dates, weekly schedule, patient mix, supervision, and site process before treating the opportunity as workable.

AANP classifies Florida as a Restricted Practice state. State law restricts at least one element of NP practice and requires career-long supervision, delegation, or team management by another provider for part of practice. This category describes licensed professional authority. An SNHU student remains supervised and cannot perform activities outside the accepted practicum plan.

Use the Florida Board of Nursing as the official licensing source. Search the prospective preceptor's legal name and confirm the active credential, role, population focus, and any public limitations. License status and course fit answer different questions. SNHU and the organization also need to review the clinician's current duties, the setting, the available patient population, and the proposed supervision structure.

South Florida searches can span Miami, Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, and surrounding communities, but traffic often makes them separate practical markets. Tampa Bay, Orlando, Jacksonville, Gainesville, Tallahassee, Fort Myers, Sarasota, and Pensacola provide other concentrations of practices, systems, community programs, and nursing departments. A student's repeatable commute should define the search more than a statewide directory.

Send a request that states the SNHU track, course, dates, weekly availability, patient or project requirements, and travel limit. For non-NP tracks, identify the department responsible for education, population programs, quality improvement, or executive operations instead of sending a clinical request to the wrong office.

SNHU publishes a minimum of 750 practicum hours under preceptor guidance across five FNP practicum courses. Primary care across the lifespan is the central setting. Use that headline total when discussing overall capacity, then confirm the active course requirement from the student's academic plan. Current public course descriptions do not support a dependable per-course arithmetic total.

The FNP curriculum also requires an in-person New Hampshire immersion through NUR 600 before the practicum sequence. Florida students should obtain current dates and travel instructions directly from SNHU because public descriptions vary on duration. The trip is a separate milestone from clinical attendance in Florida and remains a physical requirement even when other instruction occurs online.

Nursing Education, Population Healthcare, Healthcare Quality & Safety, and Nurse Executive Leadership each publish 135 practicum hours in the final course under preceptor guidance. Nursing Education divides activity between clinical and academic environments. RN-to-BSN includes community clinical practice experiences with a qualified mentor, although no one public total applies to every Florida student. SNHU has no DNP and no NP track beyond FNP.

A complete Florida site file names the physical address, department, authorized contact, preceptor credentials, dates, schedule, and relevant patient or project access. SNHU identifies possible requirements such as background checks, license verification, immunizations, drug screening, and professional liability coverage. FNP students hold individual malpractice insurance during practicum courses and submit proof at least two terms before clinical components.
